Land of Mercy
‘The Land of Mercy’ tells the tale of two young Tibetan personalities and their very different paths in life, vividly constructing for us a picture of the way of life in Tibet in the first half of the 20th century - that of the historical suffering of a people and one man’s spiritual world. Using a rich imaginative literary blend of mystery, magic and spirituality, the author takes the reader on a journey to find the ultimate meaning of faith and fate, death and compassionate mercy. How an ordinary Tibetan became a Buddha in the eyes of the Tibetans through the path of martyrdom like how Jesus was on the cross. How did a rebellious, romantic and passionate good Khampa man become a hero in the eyes of the people? In the 20th century in the 50’s after China entered Tibet, what were the changes which happened to the Tibetan society? Through twists and turns in the plot and a rich description of the fates of the legendary figures, the reader is led to a complete and real understanding. This is a work which not only goes beyond our imagination, it also transcends our everyday experience.
